High Mass at Queen of Peace Parish in Patton, Pa. - TUESDAY Sept. 14

On Tuesday (Sept 14), a HIGH Mass will be celebrated at Queen of Peace at 7 PM in honor of the 3-year anniversary of the institution of Summorum Pontificum, the Apostolic Letter of Pope Benedict XVI granting greater freedom to priests who wish to celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass and the Faithful who wish access to it. Let us remember to thank Our Blessed Lord on this anniversary for the tremendous gift of the ancient Mass and ask him to bless Our Holy Father Benedict XVI with holiness and good health for many years to come.

Celebrated in accordance with the expressed wishes of Pope Benedict XVI, with the official support of Bishop Joseph Adamec and Archabbot Douglas Nowicki, OSB.

"What earlier generations held as sacred remains sacred and great for us, too.... It behooves all of us to preserve the riches which have developed in the Church's faith and prayer and to give them their proper place." -- Pope Benedict XVI, Summorum Pontificum

"Dies iræ! dies illa
Solvet sæclum in favilla:
Teste David cum Sibylla!
*
Quantus tremor est futurus,
Quando iudex est venturus,
Cuncta stricte discussurus!
*
Tuba, mirum spargens sonum
Per sepulchra regionum,
Coget omnes ante thronum.
*
Mors stupebit, et natura,
Cum resurget creatura,
Iudicanti responsura.
*
Liber scriptus proferetur,
In quo totum continetur,
Unde mundus iudicetur.
*
Iudex ergo cum sedebit,
Quidquid latet, apparebit:
Nil inultum remanebit.
*
Quid sum miser tunc dicturus?
Quem patronum rogaturus,
Cum vix iustus sit securus?
*
Rex tremendæ maiestatis,
Qui salvandos salvas gratis,
Salva me, fons pietatis.
*
Recordare, Iesu pie,
Quod sum causa tuæ viæ:
Ne me perdas illa die.
*
Quærens me, sedisti lassus:
Redemisti Crucem passus:
Tantus labor non sit cassus.
*
Iuste iudex ultionis,
Donum fac remissionis
Ante diem rationis.

Ingemisco, tamquam reus:
Culpa rubet vultus meus:
Supplicanti parce, Deus.

Qui Mariam absolvisti,

Mihi quoque spem dedisti.
*
Preces meæ non sunt dignæ:
Sed tu bonus fac benigne,
Ne perenni cremer igne.

Inter oves locum præsta,
Et ab hædis me sequestra,
Statuens in parte dextra.
*
Confutatis maledictis,
Flammis acribus addictis:
Voca me cum benedictis.
*
Oro supplex et acclinis,
Cor contritum quasi cinis:
Gere curam mei finis.
*
Lacrimosa dies illa,
qua resurget ex favilla
iudicandus homo reus.
Huic ergo parce, Deus:

Pie Jesu Domine,
dona eis requiem. Amen."

Mass Cancellations

Latin Masses tomorrow, Feb 7, 2010 at St. Boniface are cancelled due to the church having no electricity.  Please pass this message on.

Bishop Zubik: no Sunday obligation on Feb. 7

Due to the snowstorm, Bishop David Zubik has dispensed all Catholics in Pittsburgh from the obligation to attend Mass on Sunday, February 7. From the story at KDKA.com:

That announcement came late Saturday morning from Bishop David Zubik. "I have issued a statement to indicate that any Catholics in the Diocese of Pittsburgh do not have the obligation to go to mass this weekend," Bishop Zubik said. That decision is in effect for all parishes in the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
